Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Moxcon-DX is an oral combination antibiotic capsule marketed by Sycon Healthcare. It contains amoxicillin (250 mg) and dicloxacillin (250 mg). Amoxicillin is a moderate-spectrum, bactericidal beta-lactam antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). Dicloxacillin is a narrow-spectrum, penicillinase-resistant beta-lactam antibiotic that also targets PBPs, providing robust activity against beta-lactamase-producing Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus. Together, this combination is used to treat a variety of susceptible bacterial infections, including respiratory tract, skin, soft tissue, and urinary tract infections.
