Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Amoxycillin + dicloxacillin + lactic acid bacillus is a fixed-dose combination medication containing two penicillin-class antibiotics (amoxycillin and dicloxacillin) and a probiotic (lactic acid bacillus, also known as Lactobacillus). Amoxycillin is a broad-spectrum semi-synthetic penicillin that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis. Dicloxacillin is a penicillinase-resistant penicillin that is highly active against penicillinase-producing Gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus, thereby protecting amoxycillin from enzymatic degradation. Lactic acid bacillus is a probiotic that helps restore and maintain healthy gut microflora, reducing the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhea. This combination is approved and used for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, ear, and soft tissue infections.
