Overview

Ampelopsis grossedentata total flavonoids is a botanical drug extract derived from the leaves and stems of *Ampelopsis grossedentata*, commonly known as vine tea or Moyao tea. Developed by Shaanxi Bailu Pharmaceutical, it is primarily indicated for the treatment of acute pharyngitis. The extract is highly enriched in flavonoids, with dihydromyricetin (DHM) serving as the principal active constituent, often comprising over 90% of the total flavonoid content. Its therapeutic mechanism involves potent anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant activities. It works by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and mediators, such as TNF-alpha, IL-6, and COX-2, thereby reducing throat pain, swelling, and congestion. It was approved in China as a Class 5 new Chinese medicine.
