Overview

Amphiachyris dracunculoides pollen extract is a biological product used for the diagnosis and treatment of broomweed-induced allergic conditions, such as allergic rhinitis and asthma. Derived from the pollen of the annual broomweed (Amphiachyris dracunculoides), this extract is utilized in percutaneous or intradermal skin testing to confirm Type I hypersensitivity. It is also indicated for allergen immunotherapy, where gradually increasing doses are administered subcutaneously to induce immunological tolerance. The mechanism involves the modulation of the immune response, specifically shifting the T-cell profile from a Th2-dominated allergic response to a Th1/Treg-mediated response, thereby reducing IgE-mediated mast cell degranulation upon subsequent natural exposure to the allergen.
