Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AmphiMatrix is a proprietary topical drug delivery platform developed by MediQuest Therapeutics. It is designed as an emulsion system with equal organic and water phases, providing a stable, non-greasy, and rapidly absorbed gel for localized drug delivery. The platform has been used to formulate topical drugs such as nitroglycerin (notably in MQX-503) and methotrexate for the treatment of conditions like Raynaud's phenomenon, scleroderma-related digital ulcers, and fingernail psoriasis. The mechanism of action depends on the active pharmaceutical ingredient delivered via the AmphiMatrix system; for example, when combined with nitroglycerin (MQX-503), it acts as a local vasodilator to increase blood flow in affected areas[1][3][4][5][6]. When combined with methotrexate (e.g., MQX-5904), it delivers an anti-inflammatory agent directly to psoriatic nails[4][5]. The main advantage of this technology is targeted local effect while minimizing systemic absorption and side effects.
