Overview

Amphora is a nonhormonal, acid-buffering contraceptive vaginal gel developed as a spermicide. Its primary mechanism of action is to maintain the vaginal pH below 5.0 for several hours after application, which immobilizes and kills sperm, thereby preventing fertilization.
