Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Amphotericin B cholesteryl sulfate complex** is an intravenous colloidal-dispersion formulation of the polyene antifungal amphotericin B, in which amphotericin B is complexed with cholesteryl sulfate. It binds fungal-membrane ergosterol, disrupting membrane integrity and causing leakage of intracellular constituents and fungal cell death. Also known as amphotericin B colloidal dispersion, ABCD has been marketed historically as Amphotec and Amphocil; Chinese development programs led by CSPC companies include the domestic product Amphlik. Registered Chinese studies have evaluated the formulation for invasive candidiasis, invasive aspergillosis, invasive mold infection, cryptococcal meningitis, and empirical treatment of invasive fungal disease.
