Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cypclox-LB is a fixed-dose combination antibiotic and probiotic product manufactured by Cyper Pharma. It contains ampicillin, a broad-spectrum aminopenicillin, and cloxacillin, a penicillinase-resistant penicillin, alongside lactic acid bacillus (Lactobacillus). The two antibiotics work synergistically to inhibit bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs); ampicillin provides coverage against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, while cloxacillin is specifically effective against beta-lactamase-producing Staphylococci. Lactic acid bacillus is included as a probiotic to restore the natural intestinal microflora and prevent antibiotic-associated diarrhea, a common side effect of broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy. It is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including respiratory tract, skin, and soft tissue infections.
