Overview

A combination of two antibiotics from different classes - ampicillin (a penicillin-type antibiotic) and erythromycin (a macrolide antibiotic). This combination provides coverage against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and has been studied for treating various bacterial infections, particularly pneumonia. However, in vitro studies have shown potential antagonistic effects against certain bacteria like Listeria monocytogenes.
