The AMPKγ1 Program is a preclinical research initiative developed by Korro Bio, Inc. that utilizes its proprietary OPERA (Oligonucleotide Promoted Editing of RNA) platform. The program focuses on a GalNAc-conjugated RNA editing oligonucleotide designed to target the AMPKγ1 (AMP-activated protein kinase gamma 1) subunit. By making precise, transient single-base edits to the RNA transcript, the therapy aims to achieve allosteric activation of hepatic AMPKγ1. This mechanism is intended to restore metabolic signaling and improve liver function, with potential therapeutic applications in liver disease and longevity. As an RNA editing modality, it works by modifying RNA rather than DNA, offering a reversible and precise approach to protein modulation. The program is currently in the discovery stage.
