AMR-001 is an autologous, bone marrow-derived, cell-based therapy enriched for CD34+CXCR4+ cells. It is designed as a pharmaceutical-grade product for the treatment of heart failure and acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The therapy involves isolating a population of stem/progenitor cells from the patient's own bone marrow, enriching them for CD34+CXCR4+ markers, and infusing them directly into the heart via intra-coronary catheter several days after an acute myocardial infarction. These cells are believed to act as a natural repair mechanism by homing to damaged cardiac tissue and supporting regeneration through paracrine effects and possibly direct tissue repair. The product was developed by Amorcyte (a subsidiary of NeoStem) and has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for its ability to reduce long-term complications following heart attack[1][2][4].
