Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Amrta Karuna is a Siddha/Ayurveda-based multi-herbal syrup developed by Vopec Pharmaceuticals as an anti-viral and immunomodulatory formulation for viral infections, including COVID-19. It contains a proprietary combination of five anti-viral herbs from traditional Indian medicine and has been evaluated in clinical trials in India, where it reportedly reduced hospitalization days in COVID-19 patients and favorably influenced immune parameters compared with standard care. Preclinical in vitro and in silico work attributed its activity to interference with SARS-CoV-2 ACE2–spike interaction and NSP15-mediated viral replication, alongside broader immunomodulatory effects that may extend to other viral diseases such as dengue and influenza.
