Amsilverstat B (also known as Ampsitat B) is a small molecule matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) inhibitor developed by Jiangsu Ke Feiping Pharmaceutical for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. The drug primarily targets MMP-2 and MMP-9, which are enzymes involved in the degradation of the extracellular matrix and the breakdown of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) following an ischemic event. By inhibiting these proteases, amsilverstat B aims to reduce neuroinflammation, brain edema, and the risk of hemorrhagic transformation, thereby providing neuroprotection and improving clinical outcomes. The candidate has been evaluated in Phase 1 safety and pharmacokinetic studies in healthy volunteers and has progressed to Phase 2 clinical trials in patients with acute ischemic stroke in China.
