Overview

AMT-116 UCAR-T is an allogeneic, "off-the-shelf" chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Developed by Zhongshan People's Hospital, it is primarily being investigated for the treatment of advanced malignant head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). As a universal CAR-T (UCAR-T) product, it is derived from healthy donor T-cells and engineered to express a CAR specific for EGFR while undergoing genetic modifications to prevent graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) and host-mediated rejection. This approach allows for immediate availability and standardized dosing compared to autologous CAR-T therapies. AMT-116 UCAR-T is currently being evaluated in a Phase 0 first-in-human clinical trial to assess its safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy in patients who have failed multiple prior lines of therapy.
