Overview

AMT-126 refers to two distinct therapeutic candidates developed by different companies. The first is an oral Interleukin-22 (IL-22) fusion protein developed by Applied Molecular Transport (AMT), now a subsidiary of Cyclo Therapeutics. This biologic utilizes a proprietary technology platform to enable active transport across the intestinal epithelium, aiming to treat ulcerative colitis and other diseases characterized by intestinal barrier defects by promoting mucosal healing. The second candidate was an adeno-associated virus (AAV) gene therapy program developed by uniQure in collaboration with Bristol Myers Squibb. This version of AMT-126 was designed to deliver the S100A1 gene to treat congestive heart failure by restoring calcium homeostasis in cardiomyocytes. However, the S100A1 gene therapy program was discontinued in 2018 after failing to demonstrate benefit in preclinical studies.
