Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Amuxetine hydrochloride (HA1406) is an orally administered small molecule antidepressant developed by CSPC Pharmaceutical Group (specifically its subsidiary CSPC NBP Pharmaceutical). It is formulated as enteric-coated tablets. Mechanistically, amuxetine hydrochloride acts as a potent selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI), with some pipeline sources also characterizing it as a triple reuptake inhibitor (SNDRI) that additionally inhibits dopamine reuptake. In July 2026, CSPC announced that a Phase III clinical trial (HA1406-007) of amuxetine hydrochloride enteric tablets for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) successfully met its primary efficacy endpoint, demonstrating a statistically significant and clinically meaningful reduction in MADRS scores compared to placebo.
