Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Amvofer XT is an oral hematinic supplement formulated as a syrup, developed by Amvia Biotech. It contains a combination of ferrous ascorbate (30 mg), folic acid (550 mcg), and cyanocobalamin (7.5 mcg). Ferrous ascorbate provides a highly bioavailable form of elemental iron, which is a critical component of hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells responsible for oxygen transport. Folic acid (Vitamin B9) and cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) are essential vitamins that serve as cofactors in DNA synthesis and the maturation of erythrocytes (erythropoiesis). This combination is primarily indicated for the prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anemia in both pediatric and adult populations, addressing nutritional deficiencies that impair red blood cell production.
