iBio Inc., in partnership with AstralBio, is developing an engineered monoclonal antibody that acts as an amylin receptor agonist for the treatment of obesity and cardiometabolic diseases. This preclinical-stage candidate is designed to selectively activate the amylin receptor, a target that regulates satiety and delays gastric emptying. Unlike traditional peptide-based amylin agonists, this antibody-based approach aims to provide a longer half-life, allowing for less frequent dosing and potentially improved tolerability. In preclinical mouse models of obesity, the antibody demonstrated a 60% reduction in acute food intake, showing efficacy comparable to established peptide-based amylin agonists. The program is part of iBio's AI-driven discovery pipeline targeting genetically validated pathways in cardiometabolic health.
