Overview

Amzeeq is a topical foam formulation of minocycline, a tetracycline-class antibiotic. It is used to treat inflammatory lesions of non-nodular moderate to severe acne vulgaris in patients 9 years of age and older. Minocycline works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which helps reduce acne-causing bacteria on the skin. Amzeeq is applied once daily, at least one hour before bedtime, and should not be used in the mouth, eyes, or vagina. It is the first topical formulation of minocycline approved by the FDA for any condition.
