Overview
An-Chong-Tang (安冲汤), also known as Calm the Penetrating Channel Decoction, is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine (TCM) formula primarily used to treat gynecological conditions characterized by excessive menstrual bleeding or flooding and leaking (beng lou). The formula is designed to tonify Qi, nourish the blood, and consolidate the Chong (Penetrating) vessel to stop bleeding. It is typically indicated for patients presenting with Qi and Yin deficiency. The formula traditionally consists of several herbs, including Baizhu (Atractylodes macrocephala), Huangqi (Astragalus membranaceus), Shanyao (Dioscorea opposita), Longgu (Os Draconis), Mu-li (Oyster shell), and others. It is a traditional herbal decoction rather than a modern pharmaceutical drug with a single active ingredient or specific molecular target.
