Overview

AN019 is an experimental anticancer small molecule developed by Natco Pharma in collaboration with researchers at the University of Illinois. It functions as a dual suppressor of ErbB-2 (HER2) and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF). Preclinical research in pancreatic cancer models, including MIA PaCa-2 and PANC-1 cell lines, has demonstrated that AN019 inhibits cell proliferation, invasiveness, and angiogenesis more effectively than gemcitabine. In vivo studies in mouse models have confirmed its ability to reduce tumor growth and downregulate the expression of its primary targets, ErbB-2 and VEGF, suggesting potential therapeutic utility in treating solid malignancies such as pancreatic cancer.
