**ANA-conjugated liposomal doxorubicin** is an investigational, tumor-targeted liposomal formulation of the anthracycline cytotoxic agent doxorubicin. NanoSmart developed the product by decorating doxorubicin-loaded liposomes with a human-derived antinuclear antibody that binds nuclear material exposed in necrotic regions of solid tumors, with the objective of concentrating delivery of the liposomal payload at tumor sites. The encapsulated doxorubicin intercalates DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, causing cytotoxic DNA damage. The FDA granted orphan-drug designation on February 3, 2015, for treatment of Ewing sarcoma; the product is not FDA-approved for that indication.
