Anacaulase-bcdb (brand name NexoBrid) is a biologic enzymatic debridement agent consisting of a mixture of proteolytic enzymes enriched in bromelain, which are derived from the stem of the pineapple plant (*Ananas comosus*). It is formulated as a topical gel (8.8%) and is indicated for the removal of eschar in adult and pediatric patients with deep partial-thickness (second-degree) and/or full-thickness (third-degree) thermal burns. The product acts by selectively dissolving necrotic tissue (eschar) while preserving surrounding viable tissue, potentially reducing the need for surgical debridement and skin grafting. It was developed by MediWound and is commercialized by Vericel Corporation in the United States.
