Overview

Anaflam is a fixed-dose combination analgesic and antipyretic medication developed and marketed by Shalina Healthcare, primarily targeting the African pharmaceutical market. It combines ibuprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the propionic acid class, with paracetamol (acetaminophen), a para-aminophenol derivative. Ibuprofen exerts its therapeutic effects by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2, which prevents the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in pain, inflammation, and fever. Paracetamol provides additional analgesic and antipyretic activity, likely through central nervous system mechanisms. Anaflam is indicated for the treatment of various conditions including dental pain, headaches, neuralgia, dysmenorrhea, and inflammatory joint disorders such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It is available in multiple oral formulations, including tablets and liquid suspensions, to accommodate both adult and pediatric populations.
