Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anakinra plus zinc is a combination therapy consisting of anakinra, an interleukin-1 (IL-1) receptor antagonist, and oral zinc supplementation. Anakinra works by blocking the pro-inflammatory effects of IL-1, which is believed to play a role in the pathogenesis of alcohol-associated hepatitis. Zinc supplementation was included to potentially address nutritional deficiencies and support liver function. This combination has been studied for the treatment of severe alcohol-associated hepatitis.
