anaritide

**Anaritide** is a synthetic peptide that corresponds to residues 102-126 of human prepro-atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), making it a recombinant form of the endogenous hormone ANP. It functions as a **natriuretic diuretic** by mimicking the activity of ANP: increasing glomerular filtration rate through vasodilation of afferent arterioles and vasoconstriction of efferent arterioles in the kidney. Anaritide was primarily developed for acute tubular necrosis and has been tested in heart failure and hypertension. While it showed a trend toward benefit in oliguric acute renal failure (especially patients with oliguria), it did not demonstrate significant efficacy overall and was discontinued for all indications.
