Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anatolian propolis is a natural resinous mixture produced by honeybees, which possesses antiviral properties. A specific formulation, BEE'O UP Propolis Drops, was investigated in a clinical trial led by Dr. Murat Sütçü as a potential treatment for Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) in children. [1, 6] The product is manufactured by Bee&You using a patented extraction technology developed at Istanbul Technical University. [1, 5] In a prospective, multicenter, randomized clinical study (NCT06455007), oral administration of the propolis drops was shown to significantly shorten the duration of the illness and improve symptoms like restlessness, inappetence, and sleeplessness compared to a control group, with no adverse effects reported. [1, 4, 6] The therapeutic effect is attributed to its inhibitory action against enteroviruses, the causative agents of HFMD. [2, 3]
