Ancool

Ancool is a combination oral suspension developed and marketed by Zuventus Healthcare for the management of functional gastrointestinal disorders. It contains four active components: oxetacaine, aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and simethicone. Oxetacaine is a potent local anesthetic that provides rapid symptomatic relief from gastric pain by numbing the stomach lining. Aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide serve as antacids that neutralize excess gastric acid, while simethicone acts as an antiflatulent by reducing the surface tension of gas bubbles, facilitating their expulsion. The drug is primarily indicated for conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), functional dyspepsia, peptic ulcers, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), addressing symptoms like hyperacidity, flatulence, and smooth muscle spasms.
