This is a combination therapy consisting of **andecaliximab**, a recombinant chimeric IgG4 monoclonal antibody targeting matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9); **carboplatin**, a platinum-based chemotherapeutic that induces DNA crosslinking and apoptosis; and **paclitaxel**, a microtubule-stabilizing small molecule inhibitor that disrupts mitosis. Andecaliximab inhibits MMP9, thereby reducing extracellular matrix remodeling and cancer metastasis, and may enhance the cytotoxic effects of chemotherapy. This combination is investigated as antineoplastic therapy, primarily for advanced gastric and gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma as a first-line treatment, based on evidence that the combination of MMP9 blockade with platinum/taxane chemotherapy may improve efficacy without introducing new or unexpected toxicity profiles[1][3][5][7][8].
