Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Andes virus vaccine is a DNA/RNA-based prophylactic candidate being developed by SET Technology for the prevention of Andes virus infection. Andes virus is a member of the hantavirus family and is a primary causative agent of Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS), particularly in South America. The vaccine utilizes SET Technology's proprietary platform to deliver genetic material (DNA or RNA) encoding specific viral antigens into host cells. This process is intended to trigger the host's immune system to produce a protective response, including the generation of neutralizing antibodies and T-cell activation, to prevent subsequent infection by the virus. As of early 2024, the vaccine is in the optimization stage of preclinical development.
