Andrews Liver Salt

Andrews Liver Salt is a classic effervescent powder formulation used primarily as an antacid and mild laxative. It contains three active ingredients: sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, and magnesium sulphate. When dissolved in water, the sodium bicarbonate and citric acid react to produce sodium citrate, which neutralizes excess stomach acid to relieve indigestion and heartburn. The magnesium sulphate component acts as an osmotic laxative by drawing water into the bowel, thereby promoting bowel movements and relieving constipation. Originally developed in the late 19th century by William Henry Scott, the brand has been a staple in consumer healthcare for over a century and is currently marketed by Haleon (formerly GSK Consumer Healthcare).
