Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ADT + ARTA is a combination treatment regimen used in the management of prostate cancer, particularly in high-risk or metastatic settings. The regimen consists of Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT), typically achieved through GnRH agonists or antagonists to lower serum testosterone, intensified with an Androgen Receptor-Targeted Agent (ARTA) such as abiraterone acetate, enzalutamide, apalutamide, or darolutamide. These ARTAs provide a more potent blockade of the androgen signaling pathway by either inhibiting the androgen receptor directly or blocking the synthesis of extragonadal androgens. In the RELAX trial (NCT06818682), this combination is being studied as a shortened 9-month treatment course (with 6 months of ARTA) compared to the standard 2-year ADT duration in patients with high-risk non-metastatic prostate cancer undergoing radiotherapy.
