Overview
Androtriol (YC-6) is a synthetic small molecule drug under investigation primarily for neuroprotective and anti-ischemic effects. It acts as a blocker of voltage-gated calcium channels (VDCCs) and an antagonist of metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs), mechanisms believed to contribute to its potential in treating acute neurological conditions such as stroke, cerebral small vessel diseases, glioma, brain edema, brain infarction, brain injuries, pneumonia, and cerebral hemorrhage. The drug is being developed by Guangzhou Cellprotek Pharmaceutical and Xiuhe Medical Technique. Its precise mechanism of action remains incompletely defined but centers on modulation of neuronal excitability and protection against ischemic injury[1][2][9].
