Anetosacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic developed by Anhui Global Pharmaceutical for the treatment of bacterial infections, specifically community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). As a member of the fluoroquinolone class, it exerts its antibacterial activity by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination; their inhibition leads to the cessation of DNA synthesis and ultimately bacterial cell death. Anetosacin has been evaluated in clinical trials as an intravenous hydrochloride injection, where it was compared against levofloxacin to assess its safety and efficacy in patients with community-acquired pneumonia.
