Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anfeihewei is a novel small molecule direct-acting antiviral (DAA) agent developed by Changzhou Yinsheng Pharmaceutical for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. It functions as an inhibitor of the HCV NS3/4A protease, an essential enzyme for the viral replication cycle that cleaves the viral polyprotein into functional proteins. Anfeihewei is specifically being developed for patients with genotype 1 chronic hepatitis C. In clinical trials, it has been evaluated both as a monotherapy to assess its safety and pharmacokinetics and in combination with other DAAs, such as sofosbuvir, to enhance antiviral efficacy. The drug is currently in Phase 2 clinical development in China, representing a part of the domestic effort to develop effective, all-oral treatment regimens for HCV.
