Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anfulike is a liposomal formulation of the antifungal agent **amphotericin B**, developed by **CSPC NBP Pharmaceutical**. It was granted drug registration approval in China in March 2021 with priority review. The drug is indicated for the treatment of patients with **invasive fungal infections**, particularly those with renal impairment or drug toxicity that precludes the use of standard amphotericin B deoxycholate, or patients who have failed prior treatment. Its mechanism of action involves binding to **ergosterol** in fungal cell membranes, which leads to the formation of pores that disrupt membrane integrity and cause cell death. By utilizing a liposomal/cholesteryl sulfate complex delivery system, Anfulike alters the metabolism and distribution of amphotericin B, significantly reducing the incidence of nephrotoxicity and hypokalemia compared to conventional formulations.
