Overview

ANG1007 is a preclinical peptide-drug conjugate (PDC) developed by Angiochem for the treatment of brain cancer. It utilizes Angiochem's proprietary **Angiopep** technology, specifically the **Angiopep-2** peptide, which is designed to cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB) by targeting the low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1 (LRP1) via receptor-mediated transcytosis. In ANG1007, Angiopep-2 is conjugated to the cytotoxic anthracycline **doxorubicin**. By leveraging this transport mechanism, the drug aims to deliver doxorubicin directly into the central nervous system, bypassing the BBB which typically excludes doxorubicin from the brain. Once delivered to tumor cells, doxorubicin exerts its antineoplastic effect through DNA intercalation and the inhibition of topoisomerase II, leading to DNA damage and apoptosis.
