ANGE-S004

ANGE-S004 is a small molecule 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 6 (5-HT6) antagonist developed for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Developed by the Shanghai Mental Health Center in collaboration with Shanghai Angel Pharmaceutical, the compound targets 5-HT6 receptors which are predominantly expressed in brain regions associated with cognition, such as the cortex and hippocampus. Antagonism of these receptors is thought to enhance the release of neurotransmitters like acetylcholine, glutamate, and norepinephrine, which are often depleted in Alzheimer's patients. The drug has undergone Phase 1 clinical evaluation in China to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in both healthy volunteers and patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease.
