angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 + angiotensin 1-7 is an experimental combination therapy concept built around simultaneous augmentation of the protective arm of the renin-angiotensin system. ACE2 is a carboxypeptidase that degrades angiotensin II and generates angiotensin 1-7, while angiotensin 1-7 is an endogenous peptide agonist of the Mas receptor that counteracts vasoconstrictive, pro-inflammatory, and pro-fibrotic signaling driven by the ACE angiotensin II axis. In preclinical work, combined delivery of ACE2 and angiotensin 1-7 has been described as producing augmented beneficial effects compared with either component alone, particularly in pulmonary hypertension and inflammatory ocular disease models, but this appears to be a research-stage combination strategy rather than a clearly established commercial drug product with a distinct proprietary identity, manufacturer, or approval history.
