Angiotensin II DNA vaccine

Angiotensin II DNA vaccine (AGMG0201) is a plasmid-based DNA vaccine developed by AnGes for the treatment of hypertension. The vaccine works by inducing the host's immune system to produce antibodies that specifically target and neutralize Angiotensin II, a key peptide hormone in the renin-angiotensin system responsible for increasing blood pressure through vasoconstriction. Unlike traditional antihypertensive medications that require daily oral administration, this DNA vaccine is designed to provide sustained blood pressure control following a single injection, potentially improving patient adherence. The technology was established in collaboration with Osaka University. Clinical development has reached Phase I/IIa trials, and the vaccine is also being investigated for veterinary applications, specifically chronic heart failure in dogs, in partnership with DS Pharma Animal Health.
