Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Angocin Anti-Infekt N is an approved herbal medicine developed and manufactured by Repha GmbH Biologische Arzneimittel in Germany. The product is a combination of nasturtium herb (*Tropaeoli majoris herba*) and horseradish root (*Armoraciae rusticanae radix*). Its therapeutic mechanism is based on mustard oils (isothiocyanates), which are released through the enzymatic degradation of plant-derived glucosinolates. These isothiocyanates possess broad-spectrum antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties. Angocin Anti-Infekt N is indicated for the treatment of acute inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, such as bronchitis and sinusitis, as well as urinary tract infections like cystitis. It has been licensed in Germany for over 50 years as a non-prescription film-coated tablet and is suitable for adults and children from 6 years of age. Additionally, the active mustard oils are being explored in preclinical research for potential applications in prostate carcinoma.
