ANJ900

ANJ900 is a gut-targeted, delayed-release oral formulation of metformin developed to lower blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D), particularly those with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who are unable to tolerate standard metformin due to the risk of lactic acidosis. By targeting the gut and reducing systemic exposure to metformin, ANJ900 aims to provide effective glycemic control while minimizing plasma drug levels and associated risks. The mechanism of action leverages recent insights that much of metformin’s glucose-lowering effect occurs at the gut wall rather than through systemic absorption. The drug is being evaluated in multinational Phase 3 clinical trials for T2D patients across a range of CKD stages[2][3][4][5][7][9].
