Overview

Anlatrelvir (formerly ZSP1273) is a potent, highly selective, orally administered small molecule inhibitor of the influenza A virus polymerase basic protein 2 (PB2) subunit. Developed by Raynovent Biotechnology, it targets the cap-binding domain of PB2, thereby inhibiting the "cap-snatching" process required for viral mRNA synthesis and effectively halting viral replication. In clinical trials, anlatrelvir demonstrated superior efficacy in reducing viral load and symptom duration compared to oseltamivir. It was approved by the China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in early 2024 for the treatment of adult patients with uncomplicated influenza A and is currently being investigated in Phase 3 trials for pediatric populations.
