Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anluohuaxian (also known as Anluohuaxian Wan) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily recognized for its anti-fibrotic properties. Developed by Hebei Senlong Pharmaceutical, it is a complex herbal mixture containing ingredients such as *Salvia miltiorrhiza*, *Astragalus membranaceus*, and *Panax notoginseng*. Historically, it has been approved and widely used in China for the treatment of liver fibrosis and cirrhosis, particularly in patients with chronic hepatitis B. The drug's mechanism of action involves the downregulation of the Transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGF-β1)/Smad signaling pathway, which inhibits the activation of stellate cells and reduces the synthesis and deposition of extracellular matrix components like collagen. More recently, Anluohuaxian has been investigated in clinical trials for its potential to block the progression of pulmonary fibrosis and improve lung function in patients recovering from COVID-19.
