Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anmian Patch (Anmian Tie) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation administered via acupoint plaster therapy for the treatment of chronic insomnia. Developed and studied by the Shanghai Institute of Acupuncture and Meridian, the patch is applied topically to specific acupuncture points to facilitate the percutaneous absorption of herbal active ingredients. The therapy aims to regulate the central nervous system, potentially through the modulation of neurotransmitters such as gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and serotonin, to improve sleep latency and quality. It is often evaluated in randomized, double-blind clinical studies to assess its efficacy compared to placebo in improving sleep parameters.
