Overview

Annamycin + cytarabine (also referred to as AnnAraC) is an investigational combination chemotherapy regimen being developed by Moleculin Biotech for the treatment of relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (R/R AML). The combination pairs liposomal Annamycin—a next-generation, non-cardiotoxic anthracycline small molecule designed to inhibit topoisomerase II and circumvent multidrug resistance—with cytarabine (Ara-C), a well-established nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis. This combination is designed to deliver synergistic anti-leukemic effects, particularly in patients who have relapsed after or are refractory to first-line induction therapies, including venetoclax-based regimens. It is currently being evaluated in the pivotal Phase 3 MIRACLE trial.
