Overview
Anoro Ellipta is a combination medication containing umeclidinium bromide (an anticholinergic/long-acting muscarinic antagonist) and vilanterol trifenatate (a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist). It is indicated for the maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. The medication works by relaxing muscles in the airways to improve breathing. Umeclidinium works by blocking the muscarinic receptors in the lungs, which helps prevent airway constriction, while vilanterol stimulates beta2-receptors in the lungs, helping to relax and open the airways. Anoro Ellipta is delivered as a dry powder for oral inhalation using the Ellipta inhaler device.
