ANP-390 is a small molecule, selective voltage-gated sodium channel 1.7 (Nav1.7) inhibitor currently in Phase 1 clinical development by AlphaNavi Pharma. It is being investigated for the treatment of peripheral neuropathic pain and pruritus (itch). ANP-390 is reported to utilize a mechanism of Nav1.7 inhibition that is distinct from AlphaNavi's other candidate, ANP-230, and has demonstrated anti-pruritic effects in preclinical or early clinical assessments. By selectively targeting Nav1.7, which is highly expressed in peripheral sensory neurons and plays a critical role in pain and itch signal transmission, the drug aims to provide therapeutic relief with a reduced risk of central nervous system side effects compared to non-selective sodium channel blockers.
