ANPD001 is an investigational autologous dopaminergic neuronal precursor cell (DANPC) therapy developed as a regenerative treatment for Parkinson's disease. The therapy uses a personalized approach in which a small sample of the patient's own skin cells is reprogrammed into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), which are then differentiated into dopaminergic neuron precursor cells. These precursors are surgically transplanted into the putamen region of the brain to replace lost or damaged dopamine-producing neurons characteristic of Parkinson's disease. Because the cells originate from the patient, immunosuppressive drugs are not required. The manufacturing process includes rigorous quality control using machine learning-based genomics tests at each stage. ANPD001 has received Fast Track designation from the U.S. FDA and is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2a clinical trials for moderate to severe Parkinson’s disease[1][4][5][6][7].
