Anrukinzumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets interleukin 13 (IL-13), a cytokine involved in the pathogenesis of asthma and ulcerative colitis. By binding to IL-13, anrukinzumab inhibits its biological activity, which includes promoting eosinophil infiltration, IgE secretion, airway hyperreactivity, and structural remodeling of small airways. These actions make IL-13 a key mediator in allergic inflammation and asthma. Anrukinzumab was developed for the treatment of persistent asthma and ulcerative colitis but did not demonstrate statistically significant therapeutic effects in clinical trials for these indications[4][5][6][8].
